We are a part of God's larger story.
The history of our church reflects the testimony of God protecting QBC from its infancy stage to where we are now. We are confident that he will continue to bless our church and use us as his living witnesses in the years to come.
We do not just commemorate our own story, but the story of God in our midst.
1950s
The formation of the church runs in parallel to the formation of Singapore’s national history. As Singapore was being formed into a distinct political entity, the nascent elements of the QBC community were being birthed by missionaries in Singapore’s first satellite public housing estate.
Our church history beginning within the community is at once a testimony of God’s goodness, and an encouragement to be God’s witnesses to that same body in the years to come.
1960s
In its early years, QBC saw many who came and blessed the church with their teaching of the Word of God. May their lives continue to be an example of the way that the church can bless others.
On 25 November 1962, QBC was officially instituted as a church with 33 charter members.
1970s
The church grew tremendously in the 70s. The missionaries and pastors who served in QBC at this time were instrumental in building the foundations of the church, and those structures are still in place today.
From 1975 to 1976, cell groups and the diaconate structure were introduced in the church, and a second service was started for our Chinese-speaking members.
Recognising the importance of evangelism and church-building, the Walkers, along with ten pioneer members from QBC, started New Life Gospel Centre in Depot Road. The first-ever batch of QBC deacons were ordained in 1977, with a second batch following in 1978.
